Booking the ₹300 ticket has become a race against time. Last month, the quota filled up in 45 minutes. If you are trying to book for your family, don’t rely on luck. I’ve been tracking the TTD portal daily, and here is exactly how you secure a slot without the site crashing on you.
Step-by-Step Booking
- Login Early: Log in to the TTD website at 9:50 AM. Don’t wait until 10:00 AM.
- The “Virtual Queue”: You will see a countdown. DO NOT REFRESH. If you refresh, you go to the back of the line.
- Select Date: Green means available. Red is full. If you see yellow, click it fast—it’s filling up.
- Payment Glitches: Use UPI (GPay/PhonePe) instead of Net Banking. In my experience, Net Banking takes too long to load and you might lose the ticket while waiting for the OTP.
The “Ground Reality” Tips
- The “Reporting Time” Trick: Your ticket will have a reporting time (e.g., 1:00 PM). You don’t need to be there exactly at 1:00 PM. They usually allow entry 1 hour before and up to 1 hour after.
- Shoe Keeping: Don’t leave your shoes at the main counter; the line is huge. There is a smaller counter near the luggage scan area that most people miss. Use that one.
